Keynote Speaker
Chenoa Bah Stilwell-Jensen, Ph.D.
Dr. Chenoa Bah Stilwell-Jensen is a community health provider and educator. She is a Diné citizen (Navajo Nation) and of English/French descent. She was raised to honor the land, water and traditional health practices in Tseyaat’ó and Corrales, New Mexico. This upbringing provided her the foundation to be an advocate for perpetuation of Indigenous languages, ancestral life ways for food cultivation, and land based learning. These cultural practices guided her as she sought community wellness approaches that lead her to be an AIO Ambassador and to co-found NACA (Native American Community Academy), a K-12 charter school. Chenoa Bah completed her doctoral studies in Health and Cultural Communication at the University of New Mexico (UNM) in the Department of Communication & Journalism focused on diabetes prevention and management in Indigenous communities. For the past 15 years she has taught courses at UNM, CNM and IAIA Tribal College. Presently she teaches in the HMHV (Health, Medicine and Human Values) and the Pre-Health Scholars Certificate (PHSC) program preparing students for medical school, health professions and service learning. She has worked extensively in tribal communities, at APS, with the UNM Department of Pediatrics, and New Mexico school based health centers to her present role at a non profit clinic, First Nations Community HealthSource. Chenoa Bah promotes inclusivity for health equity, cultural humility, housing justice, traditional ecological knowledge and food sovereignty. She honors youth empowerment, learning from elders, and being with her family as they stay active on the land, cook and travel. The Admissions Process
