Meet the organizing committee members for HPS 2021
AnaLisa Ortiz
Executive Co-Director Hi, my name is AnaLisa Ortiz, and I am a senior majoring in Biology and Biochemistry and minoring in Honors. I am currently hoping to continue onto medical school after completing my undergraduate degree and move into a career as a pediatrician, but there is still a lot of time left, so we'll see what happens! I am one of the Co-Directors for the 2021 HPS. I was born here in Albuquerque, but grew up in Mesa, Arizona. Before I was injured, I played volleyball for nine years, beginning in third grade until I graduated high school. In addition to helping with HPS for the past four years, I have also been an officer with the Pre-Medical Society. I look forward to helping with this event and seeing how it grows in the future. |
Nola Amburgey
Executive Co-Director I’m a senior majoring in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. My goal is to attend medical school after graduation. I have been involved with HPS for three years now and I am very excited to be the Co-Director for this year. In my free time I like to go hiking and travel. |
Julie Emeanuwa
Program Lead Hi! My name is Julie Emeanuwa. I am a Junior majoring in Biochemistry and minoring in Psychology. I hope to pursue a career in medicine, preferably Pediatrics and Family medicine. I was born and raised here in Albuquerque. During my free time, I love to dance, watch The Office, and help on my family's farm. I also enjoy working with kids. This is my second year as an officer. I hope to bring my ideas to the table this year as Co-Vice President! Overall, I am excited to be a part of this amazing club! |
Jarod Yun
Technology Lead Hi! My name is Jarod Yun and I am currently a senior working towards a B.S. in Psychology and a minor in Chemistry. I hope to go on to medical school once I graduate from UNM. I have also been part of the Pre-Medical Society since my freshman year and am currently one of the Vice Presidents. I am originally from San Diego, but I decided to come here to attend college. I hope you all have a great experience at HPS 2021! |
Maryssa Young
Technology Conference Lead Hi, my name is Maryssa Young. I am a senior majoring in Biology, and I am the Lead for the Technology-Conference team. I am an only child, born and raised in Silver City, New Mexico. I came to UNM for all the Pre-Med opportunities it offers. After I graduate, I plan to attend medical school to become a family medicine physician. I’m excited to be on the committee this year to help make HPS happen, while keeping everyone safe. |
ABBY ALDRICH
Finance Lead Hello! My name is Abby Aldrich and I am a senior here at UNM, pursuing a BS in Biochemistry and a minor in Psychology. After graduating, I hope to attend medical school to become a physician. Aside from HPS, I am involved in many other organizations on campus, and I think getting involved is one of the best things you can do in undergrad to make your college experience great! I am thrilled to be a part of HPS and can’t wait to see you at the Symposium! |
JADE CHARLES
Publicity Lead My name is Jade Charles, and I am on the Publicity team. I am a junior at UNM, and I am majoring in Biology and minoring in Psychology. I plan on attending medical school after I graduate. Being a pediatrician is my dream job. When I am not studying, I am working on campus as a resident advisor and spending time with my friends. I am very excited to be involved with HPS. I look forward to sharing information about the event and helping however I can. |
Karishma Patel
Outreach Co-Lead Hi! My name is Karishma Patel and I am on the Outreach Team for HPS. Additionally, I am the Co-Secretary of HOSA-Future Health Professionals. I am a Senior majoring in Biology and minoring in Chemistry and Business. I hope to one day go to medical school and become a pediatrician. I attended HPS the past 2 years and gained so much information about healthcare career options and navigating the admissions process. For this reason, I decided to join the HPS Committee; I want to ensure that students are given all the proper tools and opportunities to succeed in the future! I hope to see you all at HPS 2021! |
Zoe Henderson
Outreach Co-Lead Hi! My name is Zoe Henderson, and I am the Co-Lead of the Outreach Team. I am currently a Junior, majoring in psychology and minoring in population health/ chemistry. My goal is to attend medical school and become a pediatric intensive care physician. Here on campus I am the current vice president of Chi Omega, and I just returned from a semester abroad in Spain. I attended the HPS for the first-time high school, where I learned all about the population health program, which is why I chose to attend UNM! The pre- health application process can be daunting, so this is a great place to start. If you have already discovered your passion in health care or simply want to learn more, we are here for you! |

MOHAMMED JABER
Sponsorship Team Lead Mohamad is a 5th year pre-medical student at The University of New Mexico, double majoring in Public Health and Biology. Some of his hobbies outside of academics is playing basketball and hanging out with friends. This is his second year on the HPS committee board, and is now a member of the Sponsorship team. 
Kenneth LE
Technology Website Team Hi, my name is Kenneth Le and I am a team member for the Tech-Website team. I am a Pre-med student and I’m a junior with a major in Biology and minor in Chemistry. I hope to continue to medical school in family medicine. I was born in San Jose, California , but grew up in Rio Rancho, NM. I play video games for most of my free time and I am currently the head coach for the Varsity UNM League of Legends team. |
Luke Stoltzfus
Technology Conference Team Hello my name is Luke Stoltzfus! I joined the UNM HPS committee because it was an amazing resource in connecting me to people and providing clarity to my career goals. I really enjoy helping people find opportunities and I think this is one of the best ways to do it! 
Luke Chao
Outreach Team Hi, my name is Luke Chao, and I graduated with my Biochemistry Degree last summer. I hope to attend medical school at the University of New Mexico some time in the future. I was born in Danville, Pennsylvania, but I have been in New Mexico for about 12 years, and I now call Albuquerque home. I am really excited about being a part of the organizing committee because of all of the opportunities this event provides. |
Dua Fatima Hussain
Outreach Team Hi! My name is Dua Hussain. I am a sophomore, majoring in biology and criminology. I'm from Big Lake, Minnesota, and in my free time, I love hiking in the Sandia mountains or reading. In addition to being a part of the HPS 2021 planning committee, I am the BUGS communications officer, involved in a research program, and an Honors Mentor. I look forward to bringing you all the best HPS experience in these challenging times! 
Koran Sherman
Technology Conference Team Hi, my name is Koran Sherman and I am a senior majoring in Exercise Science. My plan for the future is to complete my undergraduate degree and apply to medical school in the upcoming year. I am an out of state student from New Hampshire and moved to New Mexico about three years ago to attend UNM. I attended HPS as a freshman and the event helped figure out my future healthcare goals, which has made me very motivated to help connect others with the same opportunities. I am extremely excited to be a part of the team that gets to put this amazing event together! |
